Colvic 34 Ketch

Came to Southsea during April 2016 after a collision causing a variety of damage to the pulpit, pushpit, toe rail, bow sprits and some gel repairs to the hull and topsides.

We started by removeing the guard wires on both sides, we removed the pushpit fittings as the screws/fixing bolts had been ripped out on impact resulting in the toe rail bases moving. The pushpit itself was bent and mis-shaped so we sent this off so a new one could be fabricated, all old holes in toe rail were plugged in preparation of the new push pit fitting. The guard wires were kinked so we supplied the boat with new wires. We also had to remove 3 stanchions as the bolts and feet had pulled through the rubbing strake, these area were cleaned up filled and stanchions re-fitted and sealed in with Sikaflex.

Next section was to replace the damage section of toerail, we removed the capping section of wood - 1700mm x 140mm x 15mm and also the side rubbing strake 3000mm  x 50mm x 30mm we had this milled up ready to fit. all fixings were removed and remounted and filled with epoxy. Cut all teak to length and fit, fixing all with new screws and dowel all. Finally sand section to finish.

The damage to the topsides and stem, once the boat was lifted out of the water we removed the old tape lines from the hull and sanded all the hull to clean it back to expose the all the gel damage, once this was done we set about repairing the gel damage but colour matching the gel, filling the voids, fairing off all areas with a buff of the area to finish. Finally we supplied line tape and applied.

Bow sprit and pulpit repair was as follows, we removed the pushpit, windlass and cabling for lights etc from the deck, moved the forstay fitting from fixing point. Removed the bow spirt from boat and all relevent plate fixings all landing were cleaned up ready for the new section of wood. We supplied the hard wood for both the bow sprit and facia plate, all were milled up and glued together then sanded and prepped for fitting. All were fitted and secured in place, and new pulpit was supplied also.

We had Scott from 1 Degree West check all the rigging was ok also.

Princess 360 Fire damage

Came to us in April 2013 as an insurance claim after a fire had started in the engine bay, both engines and tanks had to be removed, the bay was then cleaned using an industrial degreaser, sanded and 2 coats of Gel coat applied. Then engines and tanks were re-fitted. The headlining had significant fire damage so all panels were removed, any repairs required were carried out and new vinyl and popper fitted then the panel were re-fitted. While the boat was in our workshop the owner opted to have the seating area and helm seat recovered after several cleaning attempts did not remove the smoke damage or oil completely. Also aside from the insurance work, the owner opted to have all new windows throughout.
